Ellen Thomson (Thompson) was found on the "United States, Famine Irish Passenger Index, 1846-1851." She arrived on the ship, "Silas Greenman," which arrived in New York Harbor on 13 December 1851. Ellen was listed as age 6, which corresponds with her 1845 birth. There were no other Thomson/Thompson individuals with her. The adult by her was Alice HIggins, age 50. Listed next was Arthur Higgins, age 11. It is possible that her parents died in the Irish potato famine. Their names are not found on any immigration lists. On the 1900 Census for Brooklyn Ward 6 , Kings County,New York, Ellen's birthplace is listed as Virginia. However, the 1880 Census states that she was born in Ireland. See above note for Ellen Thompson as an immigrant from Ireland. Ellen was listed as the mother of four children, three of whom were living at the time of the 1900 census Neither Ellen Thompson nor her parents were found on the 1860 U.S. Census
Note: There is a discrepancy for the year of Thomas' birth: 1863 or 1865. The 1900 Census for Brooklyn, New York shows March 1865 as his birth.
NOTE: Very common name, not able to difinitaly find death date. Her mother is living with three children at time of 1900 census and listed as the mother of four, three living, therefore, Mary died before 1900.
