James CLAXTON
Buried Durbin Cemetery. Was born in Anderson County while his parents were traveling from North Carolina to east Tennessee. He served with General Anderson Jackson (in Tennessee) in the expedition against the Creek Indians in the War of 1812. James farmed in Tennessee until the fall of 1853 when he moved by covered wagon to Greene County, Missouri, then a year or so later moved to Wright County for the great hunting ground, spring water and wild turkeys. He owned six hundred acres of land.
