"Edward Reid was a sailor on a man-of-war ship.  He was tarred and feathered in Australia in 1868.  He promised his mother that he was making his last trip and would come to Utah as soon as he helped the family to emigrate there.  He sent money for a number of years and then it stopped and they never heard from him again."

Other records indicate he was baptized in 1861 by Priest Cornwall, Elder Crowley.

CRA: indicates born 25 Dec 1850, married 5 Jan 1868.
TIB Card indicates: born 25 Dec 1850, married 5 Jan 1868.

TIB card indicates birth as 29 Dec 1856 [probably the wrong date].
Ireland Branch Records, British Mission, Record of Members 1854-1873, indicate baptized 4 April 1863 by Robert Allen, Confirmed April 1863 by E. Allen.  Baptised when 10 years of age.
The LDS membership records indicate - "cut off the LDS Church"  10 Aug 1873.
[Editor's note: this would have been after the rest of the family emigrated to America.]
Blessing Baptism 9 Oct. 1924  AL - this date appears on her Temple Index Card "C" AL#8013; Book 2, Page 365.
[The early temple work was done at the instance of Margaret (Maggie) Pack.]

He was born 27 July 1855, the first hour of the A.M. [See copy of birth certificate.]
The family lived at 2 Lauriston Street (Edinburgh) ....
They had three boys and 1 girl living, and one boy deceased.  (So the stillborn child was a boy.)

Death Certificate indicates Thomas Reid had  small pox for 11 days....had been born less than one year before.
He died 21 June 1856 the 11th hour of the A.M.  Thomas is buried in the West Church Burying Ground.

On the the Family Group Record, documentation by Terrence Carlyle Smith it is noted:
"Thomas Reid - Although Thomas died as a child his proxy baptism was done in Provo Temple 22 May 1980 and
his endowment 9 Sep 1980 PV.  He was resealed to parents 2 Oct 1980 in Provo Temple."

[Early Missionary records of Belfast, Ireland indicate Margaret Violet Reid was baptised by E. Reid. (However, some records indicate she was baptized R. Allen and confirmed by E. Scott.]

Margaret Violet Reid used the birthdate of 27 April 1857 all her life, and was used on Church records.  Her birth certificate indicates she was born 16 April 1857.
The Manti Ward Records have reversed the place of birth of Hugh Russel Sloan and Margaret V. Reid Sloan.

TIB Card indicates birth 14 Feb 1866, however the Birth Registration from Ireland shows 18 Feb 1866.
