    NOTE:  Ericus Olavi (latin for Eric Olofsson) was appointed Rector of Berghem
    and Hajom, Alvsborg, Sweden, probably in 1594, though he and his wife,
    Elisabeth Gunnarsson, were living there as early as 1589 when their son,
    Gunnar, was born. Eric was probably serving in the capacity of assistnat to the
    regular rector, Bjorn, who died in 1593. To be the new minister Eric was
    approved by the Bishop and by 24 of the leading clergymen of the diocese. The
    parishioners of Berghem and Hajom, however, thought they should have a choice
    of someone else, too. Antoher minister came and preached, but was not liked by
    the people, so Eric received the appointment. Rather unconventionally, he stood
    in one of the church windows while he gave his inaugural sermon. He is reported
    afterwards to have lived in unity and understanding with his place where he
    gave his distinctive sermon.
