Daughter of Narcisse and Arthemise, Maria Donelda Fafford,says name was Narcisse Theopil Hamelin.Death certificate on file with State of Wisc.,Dept of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics. Ordinance work was done under Hamlin. Narcisse was also known as Nelson. His parents are listed on his death certificate as Nondrea Hamlin and Mary Greenwood,English for Marie Boisvert. Archives Nationales, Quebec, Canada states that Narcisse was born at Grondines, 20 October 1847. Maria Donelda said he worked as a sailor on the Great Lakes and also in the iron mines in Ironwood, MI.
1880 census of St. Croix Co., Star Prairie, Enumeration 238, Family 47/47, shows she was age 23 and had been born in Canada. 1860 census #1011, 1900 #20, 1095 #120 Star Prairie twp, St. Croix Co. Book on French settlers, which includes Cloutiers, in library in Great Falls, Montana shows Julia's birthday as 3 May in Stillwater, Mn, where her mother, Mary Parent, was probably married about 1856. Records in St. Annes Church in Somerset, WI. show her parents as Isidore Cloutier and Mary Parent. Marie Donelda Hamlin, daughter of Narcisse Hamlin's second wife, said Julie was married about age 15 and died of tuberculosis. She thinks Julie was born in Somerset, WI.
She was age 5 when 1880 census was taken. She is believed to have married an Italian and moved to Italy.
Levina had a child, Raymond Andrew Hamlin, who was fathered by Andrew Kemp. She was a teenager at the time. 1880 census of Star Prairie, St. Croix County, Wisc., Enumeration 238 showed her name as Olive.
Ran away from home while a teenager and joined the army. He served in the Boxer Rebellion, Spanish American War and World War l. He was wounded in the leg during WWl, but didn't know it until that night. It was a clean shot right thru the leg. He served with Captain "Blood and Guts" Patton. His rank was Sargeant Major or Master Sergeant. He retired from the service in 1920 just before his marriage .He was commander of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Riverside. He drove a taxi for a while and worked for the Tip Top Laundry to supplement his retirement income. He loved to be active, enjoyed dancing and taught his children to swim. He died the day before his 54th birthday. His children were 5,9 and ll.
