Personal knowledge of Alan P. Hamlin.
Corinne grew up in favorable circumstances. Her father was a painting
contractor who was able to provide quite well for his family. She went
to a finishing school in Virginia. Her first job was with the
    telephone
    company. She enjoyed playing tennis.
After twelve years of marriage she was widowed and left with three
children. She took a course in secretarial work at a business college
and, since it was in the middle of the depression, 1933-1934, she got
    on
with the PWA, WPA, NRA, etc. set up by Pres. Roosevelt. Later she was
hired by the Mission Inn doing secretarial work. She was a tireless
worker and learned how to stand up for her rights. She was a loving
mother and a good provider altho her income was small. We made do with
    what we had.
She learned to drive, bought a car, drove her friends all over, also
    her
children. She loved to play bridge and had a group of friends who got
together frequently for forty or more years until they started passing
    away.
She was a great mother and always tried to provide us with the things
that other kids had. We were able to go to summer camp and take piano
lessons or dance lessons. She was a great example to me of what a
widowed mother could do if she put her mind to it. She was also an
    eternal optimist.
I, Alan, have a picture of her when she was in her late teens or early
20's. She was slim and trim on the tennis court and looked very
    pretty. I
believe she normally was about 5'4" and somewhere around 100 pounds.
She had light skin and probably dark brown hair. In her later years
    she
    had shrunk to about

NAME Joseph (Jack) Bernard Jr. /Hamlin/

Personal knowledge of Alan P. Hamlin.
Father died when Jack (Joseph, Jr.) was eleven years old. He did
    yard
work, was a service station attendant and worked in a grocery store
during his teen age years. Jack was studious and always got good
    grades
in school. He was a graduate of Poly High School and Riverside Junior
College (1941). He entered the Air Corps as a cadet in Jan 1942 right
after the war started. He received his commision as a bombardier and
later became a navigator. He was an instructor at the air base at
    Walla
Walla, Wash. After his discharge as a Captain, he went to work as a
    land
    appraiser in Riverside.
Jack was rather stait-laced as a young man, but developed a drinking
problem while in the service. It caused problems with his marriage and
with his children. He and Laurie split up several times and finally
    ended
in divorce. The kids went with one parent, then the other. At the
    time of
his death (suicide), he and Laurie were living in the same home with
    their kids.
