MORRIS Well Known Citizen of Montevideo Neighborhood Had Been Ill for a Year A. J. Morris, a well known and highly respected citizen of this community died Monday evening about 6 o'clock, at his home near Montevideo. He had been in failing health for a year and for several weeks he had been growing gradually weaker. He was found dead by some of the family. Death due to heart trouble. For many years he had been a member of the Progressive Brethren Church and was a faithful worker in all church affairs. He was about sixty-five years old and was twice married. His first wife was Miss Crawford and his second wife, Miss Messersmith who survives him. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Armentrout, of near Richmond and Mrs. Mary Ann Pollack of Island Ford, and three brothers, Jessie, James and Henry Morris, and the following children: Mrs. W. H. Pritchert, Mrs. R. F. Rowan, Mrs. Luther Greyer, Miss Bertie Morris all of Illinois, Misses Lula and Melvina Morris, of Staunton, Luther, Artemus and Vern of the Western States; Alexander and Ambrose of Pennlaird, Theodore, Lester, and Rosa Morris at home. OBITUARY Mrs. Morris, 79 Passes Away Mrs. Annie Morris, 79, one of McGaheysville's most beloved residents, died late Monday night at the Newman Nursing Home in Grottoes. Mrs. Morris, who was Miss Annie Good before her marriage, spent her entire life in the East Rockingham section. She was the widow of Andrew J. Morris. She is survived by two sons, Theodore Morris, of Elkton; Lester Morris, of Plainfield, N.J. one sister, Mrs. Charles Hinkle, of Goods Mill; Four step-children, Mrs. R. F. Rowan, of Illinois; Mrs. L. C. Owen, of New Hope; Miss Lula Morris, of Staunton; and Luther Morris of Detroit; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 from the McGaheysville Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold M. Fuss in charge. Burial will be in the McGaheysville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Benton Burke, Avis Burke, W. A. Yancey, N. W. Sheetz, Ben Rolston, and Dennis Good. The body will remain at the Brill Funeral Home in Elkton until Thursday noon when it will be moved to the church to lie in state until the hour of the funeral.
