                       Some sources say Thomas married Mourning in Ireland where he had
    fled to escape Huguenot persecution in France and they emigrated to
    Edgecomb Co.,NC.  A key Lenoir ref: "Echoes of Happy Valley" by
    Thomas Felix Hickerson.
    Lived in Brunswick Co., Va.  In 1760 they moved to Edgecombe Co.,
    NC, on the Tar River near Tarborough, where he died in 1765.

    In 1760, Thomas Lenoir went South Carolina, first settling among
    thefriendly Catawba Indians near the line between North and South
    Carolina,but on account of trouble with Hostile Cherokees, he went
    further southand made his home seven miles below the village of
    Camden, then called"Pine Tree Hill", among the friendly tribe of the
    Waterees.
