                   OBITUARY:
    THE   VICTORIA ADVOCATE; "native of Kentucky and was born on February 19, 1878, the son of John W. Thomas and Mrs. Melissa Ward Thomas, deceased.  He was a farmer by occupation and had resided in Kingsville for nine years, moving there from this county.  Fifty years of his 63 were spent in Texas. On October 15, 1899 he was married to Mrs. Martha E. Thomas, who survives to mourn his passing.  Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Rev. Foy Thomas of Rockwall and C. Jack Thomas of San Antonio; four daughters, Mrs. H. C. [Allie May] Searcy of Wichita Falls, Mrs. G. R. [Juanita] Wray, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Mrs. V. D. [Cora Frances] Tally of Victoria and Mrs. F. B. [Hattie Lee] Calhoun, also of this city; one brother, Silas Thomas of Houston and five grandchildren."

OBITUARY:
    THE   VICTORIA ADOVCATE Monday, April 17, 1967; "Mrs. C. E. Thomas 88, of 302 W. Forrest St., resident of Victoria for the past 60 yars, died at 5 p.m. Sunday in a local hospital after a long illness. [par] Mrs. Thomas was born Nov. 15, 1879, in Amity, Ark., and lived in Kingsville before moving to Victoria.  She was a member of First Methodist Church. [par] Her husband died Dec. 28, 1941. [par] Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church, with the Rev. Grady Peters and the Rev. John Newton officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. [par] The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. until time of services.  McCabe-Carruth Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.  [par] Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Frank B. Calhoun of Houston, Mrs. Victor Tally of Victoria, Mrs. Allie Searcy of Dallas and Mrs. George L. Wray of Taft; two sons, the Rev. A. Foy Thomas of McKinney, Tex. and C. Jack Thomas of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Coker of Colorado City, Tex., Mrs. Hattie Copeland of Stamford, Mrs. Lucy Kemp of Clovis, N  M., and Mrs. Lindsay Dennis of Olton, Tex.; eight grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.
