James Washington Duncan was raised and educated in his native county, Nelson, Kentucky, and began life for himself in 1849 as a farmer. In 1857 he went to Jackson County, Missouri and in the spring of 1870 came from there settling in Cass County. His farm contained 160 acres of improved land, surrounded by hedge, well watered and with an abundance of fruit. He took the land in its natural state and brought it to a good state of cultivation. J.W. married November 4, 1867, to Miss Lillie M. Anthony, a native of Morgan County, Missouri (born in 1856). Her parents were William and Mellissa (Delilah) Anthony, Kentuckians by birth. She was raised and educated in Jackson County, Missouri. They had four children: Rua C., Mary J., N.T. an Lucy M. They were both members of the Baptist Church.
Found Lillis M. Anthony, b. 29 May 1845 in Boone, MO and baptized 25 May 1996, endowed 25 May 1996, and sealed to parents 25 May 1996. This grandmother has had her work done twice Was she born in Morgan or Boone.
He married Lily M. Anthony 4 Nov 1867 at Missouri . Lily M. Anthony was born at Morgan, Missouri 29 May 1845 daughter of William K. Anthony and Delilah Morrow .
