John Stiles and his family sailed to America in 1635 on the ship "Christian." His brothers, Francis, Henry, and Thomas, and their families also came. They first settled in Dorchester, MA, then moved to Connectcut, settling in Windsor.

Henry Stiles was one of the Windsor Dragoons in service during the Indian troubles about 1667. He was called as Captain in 1669. He married (1) Mrs. Ketch of Stafford, Connecticut. She died in 1659 leaving only one child, Henry. Capt. Stiles married (2) Elizabeth Wilcoxson, by whom he had 9 children. He died August 1724, aged 95 years.
