Letter from Mary Wilson Madsen said her grandmother Mary Stewart married when she was 28 in 1862 so she would be born in 1834 or 1833 and not 1837. After husband died,she lived with daughter Sarah.
BIRTH: Born in 1834 according to letter from granddaughter Mary Wilson Madsen but marriage cert. shows Mary was 25 years old when married -so she was born in 1837 +. 1881 census lists her as age 45. However IGIa shows birthdate as 1834 ,F 2078026 and IGIm shows b.abt 1841, F 448100 and AF shows 1834.

From the Falkirk Herald Deaths, 13 May 1899 "Shirra-at Union Buildings, Bainsford, on 7th inst.,Helen Cowan, aged 35 years, dearly beloved wife of James Shirra.".
