Records show proclaimed again 23 Jan 1853. Marriage date 28 JKan 1853 "both from Larbert Parish....Falkirk Record Archives. As their first child was born in 1835, it seems likely that they were unofficially married on 28 Jan 1833 with later proclamations and official marriage on the 10 year and 20 th year anniversary. BIOGRAPHY: The 1881British Census shows Margaret Binnie, born Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland, as a widow, age 70, born abt 1811, living at 27 Love St., Paisley Middle Church, Renfrew, Scotland with John and Agnes Caldwell ( ages 36 and 31 ) and six children and two other boarders. Larbert Parish Register Marriage entry states "On 23/1/1853 at Larbert, James Cowan and Margaret Binnie, both of this Parish, were this day regularly proclaimed in order to marriage for the third and last time and no objections were offered. Married 28/1/1853 by the Rev.John McLaren,Larbert, James Mitchell, Session Clerk." An earlier proclamation was made on the 10 Jan 1843 but the marriage did not take place. As their first child was born on 14 Jan 1835, it would appear that their unofficial union took place about 1833 and it was their intent to officially marry on their 10th and then their 20th anniversary.

After Francis died ,Mary lived with daughter Sarah.. When Mary died, daughter Sarah, husband and son moved to New Zealand. . The 1841 Census shows him living at Fairbairn Feus, age 2. The 1881 Census shows him still living at the Main St residence, age 41 with wife Mary, age 45 and children James, Robert,Margaret, Sarah and Mary. MARRIAGE: Marriage Cert.
