Notes:
Will proved 18 August 1730, Goochland County, Virginia: In the name of God Amen. I, Peter David, of the parish of King William in the County of Goochland, being of perfect and sound memory, praise be to God, and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this, my last will and testament, in manner and form following, viz: Principally and first of all, I do commend my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried after a devout and Christian-like manner at the direction of my executors hereafter mentioned, not doubting to receive the same at the last day by his mighty power of God, and as for much worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless within this life. I dispose of it in the manner and form following: Item Imprimis, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Ann David, this plantation which I now dwell upon and the same to enjoy during her life, and after my beloved wife Ann David's death, the said land to return to my son, Peter, for him and his heirs forever. Item. I do also give and bequeath unto my son, Isaac, and for his heirs forever a certain track of land of four hundred acres lying upon Meithant (?) Branch. Item: I do give to my son, Peter, a Negro man by the name of Dirk. Item. I do give also unto my son, Isaac, one Negro man by the name of Monnoway (?), and do also give unto my daughter, Ann, a Negro woman by the name Dianna. Item. I also give unto my daughter Maryan a Negro girl named Hannor. Item. I also ordain that my beloved wife, AnnDavid shall bid herself a Negro with the money and moveables that shall be sold to make up the money that shall be wanting and after that there will be moveables enough sold to purchase a Negro for my said wife, the remaining to be equally divided between my beloved wife, Ann David, and my son, Peter, and my son, Isaac, and my daughter, Ann, and my daughter Maryan. Item. I do constitute and ordain my beloved wife to be administrix and executrix of this, my will and testament, and revoke all other wills and testaments which may have been by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of May, Anno Domini, one thousand seven and twenty nine. Pronounced, signed and sealed in the presence of us, David Lasueour, John Chastain, Jean LaGrand. PETER DAVID (seal) At a court held for Goochland County August 18, 1730, this will was proved by the oaths of John Chastain and John LaGrand, and was thereupon admitted to record. Test. Henry Wood
