John Marshall "Marsh" HARRIS

On 8 November 1929, John Marshall Harris, age 70 and oldest child of James Ward and Permelia Jane DAVIS Harris, died in Blanchard, Oklahoma. His Obituary from a Willow Springs, Missouri, newspaper is as follows:

"John Marshall Harris was born in Shannon county, Mo., Dec. 13, 1858, died at his home in Blanchard, Okla., November 8th 1929, aged 70 years, 10 months and 24 days. Mr. Harris came to Howell County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Harris in 1867 when they began making a home on the farm on which Willow Springs is built. Being the eldest child he knew something of pioneering in the ozarks. On July 7, 1878 he was married to Miss Susie Ferguson, sister of D.S. Ferguson. To this union were born nine children, seven of the children, his wife, several grand and great grand children, one sister, Mrs. T.J. Ferguson, one brother, James A. Harris of this City and one brother, Richard J. Harris of Palson, Montana, survive him. Mr. Harris had many friends in and around Willow Springs as well as in Paul's Valley and Blanchard, Okla., who will be sorry to learn of his death."
