On 19 October 1918, 1st Lt. Wayne Thomas Boles, Co. D, 130th Machine Gun Bn, 35th Division, U.S. Army, age 22. son of Thomas David and Frances R. RICHARDSON Boles, died of pneumonia in Base Hospital 47, Beaune, France. His body was returned for burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, Mo., after the war ended. The American Legion Post organized after the war in West Plains was named the Wayne T. Boles Post in his honor..
