NOTES: [Taken from "History of Tennessee Biographical, Appendix pages 1108 & 1109] J.W. Trahern was educated in the county schools of the day, and in 1865 was married to Miss Bell Baynham of this county (Lawrence County, TN). To them were born seven children. Mr. Trahern was first a clerk in a dry goods firm in Knox, Kentucky, where he remained two years. A year or so after, he went to Hopkins County, KY, where in engaged in the grocery business for one year; then coming to New Providence, TN. He entered the stock cattle and tobacco business. Here he remained until the year 1859 when he engaged in farming. In the year 1870, he bought a tract of land in Montgomery Co. where he now has an extensive farming interest. He is also dealer in leaf tobacco and handles about 150 hogsheads of this article annually. In politics, he is a Democrat and cast his first vote for James Buchanan. While at Providence, he was engaged in running a barrel manufactory which was destroyed by fire in 1858, and in 1862 had his house and barns burned by the soldiers of the Federal Army. Mr. and Mrs. Trahern are members of the Christian Church and make friends wherever they go. Taken from the History of Tennessee Biographical Apendix Page 1108-1109
He married Isabelle Baynham 15 Nov 1865 at Rose Hill, Montgomery, Tennessee . Isabelle Baynham was born at Stewart, Tennessee 1844 daughter of William Joseph Gregory Baynham and Mary Ann Caroline Smith .
