NOTES: Many incorrect versions of this ancestry exist. Extensive notes from research in Quaker records are included in the PAF notes. IMMIGRATION: When Daniel immigrated to the US, he carried a certificate with him from the Swarthmore Meeting (Quakers) attesting to his origin, skills, and demeanor. It was signed by father William, grandfather Paul, and brothers Paul and Thomas. Daniel Pennington, b. 1694 was an immigrant to Pennsylvania in 1713, producing a certificate from Swathmore in Lancashire, England. He arrived prior to the rest of his family, which did not come to America until 1718, and married Elizabeth Michener in 1724. Elizabeth was born 1701, the daughter of John and Sarah Michener from County Westmoreland, England. Daniel was the son of William and Margaret (Hall) Pennington of Sunbreak (sometimes spelled Sunbrick) William Pennington was born in 1657, the son of Paul Pennington and his wife Ann Simpson, as evidenced in the Swarthmore (England) Quaker records. He married Margaret Hall, b. 1667, at the home of Joseph Good, of Berkclife, Aldingham, Lancashire. Margaret Hall was the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Addison) Hall of Rosebeck, parish of Aldingham, and the granddaughter of Leonard and Elizabeth (Wyman) Addison. Paul Pennington can be documented in the Parish of Aldingham as being born in 1627 in the Furness district of North Lancashire, England and his marriage to Ann Simpson is recorded in the Parish records in 1655. This is beautiful genealogy, truly a work of art (only presented in the most abbreviated manner here, and I pray I've gotten it written down properly) It is documented through a number of published genealogies and reference works, and a variety of Quaker records recorded at local Monthly Meetings and held at Swarthmore College in Chester County, Pennsylvania and Swarthmore in England. The complete, contributed research on this family was written up for "Pennington Pedigrees" by R. P. Bailey and published in Volume XII and XIII in 1980 and 1981. There is not one "reference" from "LDS records" or CD#125579326, or even "Quaker records," which are totally meaningless terms and certainly are NOT references. A number of the books used for this research are online through Heritage Quest which is available these days through many local library systems.
