                      John Edwards came with his wife, Mary, and their children, from Abington. Their son William became a prominent minister among Friends, and died in 1764, at the age of 52 [62*]. His wife was Martha Foulke, likewise  an accepted minister, who was appointed an elder in the Richland meeting in 1745, the first woman who held that position. After the death of her husband she married John Roberts in 1771, and died in 1781, in her 65th year. MARTHA  CONTINUING IN THE SERVICE AFTER THE DEATH OF HER FIRST HUSBAND.
THE WILL OF WILLIAM EDWARDS, DATED MARCH 8, 1764 PROBATED NOVEMBER 5, 1764, IN PHILADELPHIA, IS REGISTERED IN WILL BOOK N, PAGE 219.
Of Milford, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. Born "within the verge of Abington Monthly Meeting and removed with his parents in his youth to settle at or near the Great Swamp". He acquired the homestead plantation of 250 acres from his father by deeds of lease and release in 1743, and lived thereon until his death. It devises to wife Martha use of estate, real and personal, until the eldest son William comes to age of 21, when the plantation is to be divided between the two eldest sons William and Thomas, they paying out legacies to the other children. The wife and brother-in-law, Samuel Foulke, are named as executors, and the will is witnessed by Thomas Thomas, Thomas Roberts and Letitia Roberts.
