John EDWARDS

                   He secured by patent from the proprietaries in 1758, a tract of 216 acres adjoining his father's farm, 100 acres of which he sold the same year to Abraham Roberts. The greater part of his life, however, was spent on the farm of his father-in-law, Willaim Newman, of which he was in possession as tenant in 1759 when William Newman died; and his wife and daughter Mary inheriting the farm of 220 acres, he aquired the greater part of it by deeds from his son John and daughter Mary Erhart, and spent the remainder of his life thereon. He lived, however, for a short period in Chester County soon after the death of his father-in-law. The will of John Edwards dated 16 Oct 1802, was probated 3 Nov 1802,and is registered in Will Book N0. 6, page 422. None of the children of the second marriage of John Edwards were married. Aaron was a shoemaker. He and his sister Jane, by a joint deed dated 10 Apr 1805, conveyed ton Daniel Shelly, of Milford, Pennsylvania, a turner, the real estate of which their father died siezed, being the 34 acres and 6 perches which William Hickenbottem conveyed to him in 1787, part of the Newman tract. Jane Edwards, the widow of John, Sr., and mother of Aaron and Jane, releasing her dowerrights therin.
