Thomas Kimbrough was probably born in Louisa Co Va.. The Kimbrough's came from
Louisa Co Va before going to Caswell Co NC.. Thomas is the son of John
Kimbrough and Sarah Bradley... He married Eleanor Graves who was born in Louisa
Co Va... Thomas Kimbrough Will is in Caswell Co NC.. dated 20 September 1777
book A, page 25.. We find in Louisa Co Va deed book A, page 295 24 Nov 1747,
Thomas Kimbrow and wife Elenor , of Louisa county to John Field of the same
county for the sum of 50 pounds a tract of land located on ,Great Rocking Creek
Louisa Co 120 acres conveyed by Ambrose and Joshua Smith unto John Kimbrow 6
August ,1730, and by John Kimbrow conveyed to said Thomas Kimbrow by deed 7
August 1730....Witnesses;; Thomas Lipscomb and William Kimbrow... This John
Kimbrough had to be the Junior as John Kimbrough Sr died in 1715/16 and the
witness, William Kimbrow was a son of John Kimbrough Sr...
Orange Co Va deed book 11, page 51, Dec 1747 John Neal of Orange Co Va to
Thomas Kimbrow of Louisa Co for the sum of 50 pounds a tract of land in Orange
Co containing 300 Acres... He also purchased at the same date 200 Acres on
Crews Mill Road , in same county..
Nov 3 1764 Thomas and Eleanor Graves his wife sold their land in St Thomas
Parish, Ornage Co Va to John Sutton of Spottsylvania Co Va and moved to NC, by
the way of Louisa Co Va as in the Louisa Co Va deed book D page 83 ,Thomas
Kimbrow and Eleanor his wife of Orange Co in the goverment of NC, to John
Sutton of Orange Co Va for the sum of 15 pounds a tract of land containing 100
acres on the south side of Northanua River in Louisa Co Va..
Now we find Thomas and his wife Eleanor Graves , daughter of Thomas Graves and
Sarah Ann Davenport living in Orange Co NC.. In 1777 part of Orange Co was cut
off to form Caswell Co .. In his will of 1777 ,Thomas Kimbrough gives to my son
John on hundred and eight acres of land be the same more or less beginning at a
beach on the north side of the south fork of Country Line Creek and he also
gave his other children things..
In the September court 1781, Div estate of Thomas Kimbro ;; to Eleanor,
Robert, William, Thomas, John, and Graves Kimbro;; John Bryant, Leonard Brown ,
Rober Bruce, Edward Nowel ,Henry Turner and Caleb Carman for the legacy of
there Wives...
Notes about Kimbrough 's ;;; There is one Thomas Kimbrough in 1799 tax list in
Caswell Co NC.. others on Tax list were Marmaduke Kimbrough in 1783 in Caswell
Co.. Five land grants were issued to members of the Kimbrough family, John.
300 Acres, 1 Oct 1778 on south Country line Creek,, John Jr, 93 Acres 27 Nov
1799 on Country line Creek, Robert 136 Acres 1 Jan 1780 on Country line creek,
Rabert again 640 1 Oct 1778 on Michael's Fork Creek, william 47 Acres 1 Oct
1778 on south fork of Country line Creek, Grants for John. William, robert,
were all dated 1 Oct 1778...
