All of their children's births are recorded in the Rich Square Monthly Meeting (Quaker),Northampton County,North Carolina, the congregation they attended.
NOTES: In his application for a Revolutionary War pension, Joseph Pitman stated that he was born on 10 Sep 1757, according to the record kept by his father. The Rich Square Monthly Meeting,Northampton County,North Carolina (Quaker) published records lists his birthdate as 8 October 1756. The Quaker records list his next sibling, Abia Pitman, as being born 12 Mar 1758. The Rich Square Monthly Meeting records seem to be more correct since Abia's birth occurred 6 months after 10 Sep 1757.
He married Elizabeth Gay Abt 1746 at North Carolina . Elizabeth Gay was born at Bertie, North Carolina 21 Oct 1724 daughter of Henry Gay and Mary .
