Oreste Antonio Ferrucio NATALI

                          Oreste was 1 of 9 children born in Vellano Italy.  He had brothers
named Guido, Franco and Ferruccio.  Oreste & Severina came to America
in 1906 after their marriage.  Severina's brother Italo bought land in
Fresno,(the familiar Cedar and Shepard lot) in 1912.  He couldn't keep it
up so he asked Oreste to take over the payments.  Oreste gave up job at
the macaroni factory and took over that property which at that time had
grapevines on it.  Frustation with "hardpan" and the continuous problem
of the irrigation running to the middle of the property because of a slope
soon left Oreste quite disenchanted. As Nelli puts it,"He hated that land"
He sold it for $12,000 in 1922.  From there, the family moved to
"Scandanavia" (Gettysburg and Winery)  where Oreste bought 20 acres of
vineyard for $19,000.  Meanwhile back at the ranch, (Cedar and Shepard)
the new owners could not make payments.  Oreste was forced to sell the
"Scandanavia" property and take back the Cedar and Shepard property
which by this time was very run down.  The children picked grapes.
