Obituary - Idaho World Weekly - Idaho City, Idaho, Friday, August 13, 1909: DEATH OF A PIONEER Mrs. Davis Bunch, of Garden Valley, died last Wednesday after a short illness, and was buried today. Mrs. Bunch was an early pioneer of this place, was for several years a resident of Quartzburg. From there the family moved to Garden Valley. Mrs. Bunch, besides her husband, leaves a daughter, Mrs. William Hopkins, and two sons, Lee and Sylvester Bunch, all residents of Garden Valley. Mrs. Bunch was well known throughout the Basin and Garden Valley and leaves many friends to mourn her loss. Mrs. Bunch was born in Ireland and was 74 years of age, and came to America when five years of age, making her home first in Iowa. She was married in Idaho City 42 years ago. The funeral took place at 10 o'clock today in Garden Valley. Elizabeth came west with her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Travis Stapleton, and their children in 1864. They traveled with the Abe Robinson wagon train across the plains from Iowa to Boise, Idaho. (Personal Files of Betty Daley)
