Reuben Jacob NAEGLE

                   "Lollie" as she was known by all her grandchildren, was a loving, angelic person who had no quile.  She was very tenderhearted, submissive to her husband always, and loved little children.   In her early sixties she began losing her balance as she walked and as her muscles failed her, she became more and more dependent.   She finally sat long hours at her kitchen table greeting their many friends and family who would call at their house in Mesa, Arizona.  Her handwriting got more and more shakey and finally her speech became slurred and hard to understand.   The family tried to find a cure and the cause of her disease by taking her to internists in Salt Lake City.   They thought she had had a series of small strokes.   But in later years it was determined that the disease is called attaxia and that it isjpassed down in families.  Rosa's only sister had it and was alive with it for many many years and her son is very disabled with it today.  Rosa's mother died when the girls were young and may have carried the strain because one of her uncles had it and it is other places in the Beecroft line.  We have been told that it is only passed to the children of those who have the disease and only one member of Rosa and Ed's children has it today, Margie.   Margie, quick and small and witty, has been the unlucky one and has had the exact symptoms of her mother, deteriorating more and more.   She is now in her  seventies.   During Lollies very ill times near the end of her life, the children took turns staying with her.   She had a fear of nursing homes and they were determined not to put her there.  There were many special and sweet times at her side before she died.     She was a simple woman only wanting the Gospel and happiness for her children.   She had no material aspirations.   She had a quick laugh and made it fun for the grandchildren when they visited.   She loved playing games, but there was little time or interest for these from Gramp who was always in a hurry to accomplish things.   Her children say they never heard her say an unkind word about anyone.   She loved to teach Primary and be with the little children.    Gramp was always a faithful husband and became the breadmaker and cook as well as taking care of her needs.    Joe's life story will tell of their experiences together.    Lollie served a stake mission with her husband between 15 Jan 1950 and March 1952.  He baptism in 1911 was by her father Reuben Jacob Nagle.   They were driven from Mexico by Pancho Villa and living in a tent in El Paso, Texas, when her mother died.   Lollie could never speak of her mother without getting tears in her eyes.   She never really got over losing her mother at such a tender age.
