Notes:
George was sealed to his parents by Joyce and Joe Goodman and Joey and Laura Goodman in the Salt Lake Temple 29 May 1998. If this work was done before, we did not have the record at this time and will change the date as it is discovered.

He was undoubtedly baptized in Portland, but came to Salt Lake for his endowments 31 may 1935 according to temple records 8350 book G page 351. I remember going to the temple, being dressed in a little white dress and stocking feet, for the sealing. I was three and a half years old and remember packing all my things in a little round suitcase that sprung open when it was unlatched with everything popping out. Colette was born 8 August 1934 so she was alive but she did not come on the trip, I suppose it was considered too hard to bring her. My parents always thought things would be taken care of for her since she was so handicapped. She did get baptized in Portland and later have a patriarchal blessing. We considered taking her to the temple at one time, but with the difficulty of dressing her and doing ordinances we felt it was best not to have her come. She understood.

Notes:
First marriage to Dewey Crowley of Vancouver, Washington. Divorced.
Moved to Portland from Salt Lake City as a young single adult, met and
married Dewey, who was not L.D.S. He promised to go to church with her,
but shortly after the marriage said he only made the promise to get her
to marry him. He was handsome, social, likeable, but not committed to
working and supporting a wife. The marriage ended after about two
years. No children.

Lael met George when he came with some friends to the church dances in
Portland. She was 27 when they were married in June of 1929. There
were few LDS men in the Portland area. She recognized George's inate
spirituality and felt he would become a member. He was baptized in
1933 and they were sealed in the temple 31 May,1995. There were two
children from this union, Joyce and Colette.

Lael loved Portland. She said the street always looked washed from all
the rain. She lived at first with her aunt and Uncle Nate Compton. Lael
was very caring about her mother and sisters and brother. She sent
everything she made home to them in Salt Lake, keeping only enough to
live. Gradually the whole family joined her in Portland.

Temple index card to Salt Lake temple no. 11869 Book G page 490 listed her baptism as 12 Dec. 1910, endowed 31 May 1935. Sealed to parents 5 Oct., 1953 in Salt Lake Temple (special collections at library) no. ?
