Work has been done for William Lorden several times. Salt Lake Temple records show baptism 8 May 1894, endowment 9 April 1896 in film #13048 Book D Page 370. Sealed to parents May 14, 1902 #1239609 Page 137 or 219. Brother and sister were sealed to parents 14 May 1902. Mary Lorden b. about 1848 and brother William jr. to William Lorden (James N. Miller, proxy) and Catherine Dawson Lorden (Matilda N. Lorden proxy). Other proxy names in Lorden file. Later baptism was in SLake 4 Aug 1935, endowment 6 June 1938 and sealing 1 July 1977 in Odgen.
Rebecca Gertrude Lorden Baker wrote in about 1950 of her father:
William's parents died when he was a small boy. He had one brother, it seems his name was Thomas, and that when a young man he was captain on a boat on one of the Great Lakes. William went to Salt Lake City when a young man and married Matilda Isabell Neibaur. Four girls were born to them, the fourth being born about five months after her father had passed away with pneumonia. He had worked as a teamster driving stage and freight around Nephi, Utah where he and his family lived. His children being very young do not remember him. It is said that he was a kind and loving husband and father. His family moved to Matilda's childhood home at 231 So 2nd E. in Salt Lake City after his death.

Paulo ,our guide on the bike trip in Holland, April 2001 was from Montreal. He said there would be no such place as "Lachmo" but that it could easily be Lachine which is near Montreal.. Perhaps handwriting could have looked like Lachmo. This is a new place to look for information. June 8, 2001.

William Lorden was not amember of the church during his lifetime and Matilda was only endowed in 1894, long after his death. I don't know if distance (they lived in Nephi while he was alive but in Salt Lake with her parents at least for a time after his death) or what was the cause of her not taking out her endowments earlier. Matilda made sure hers and his work was all done later and was very active in temple work later in life. About five years after Williams death, Matilda married John A.Compton and three children were born to them. He had seven children from a previous marriage and she had four, making a total of 14. Poverty and so many children living in poor circumstances caused friction which resulted in a divorce. Matilda was granted the ciustody of their three children. She also took the name of Lorden again.
Wilhelmine, the fourth daughter, married very young and her mother raised her baby boy William Wallace Carter. When Wm. Wallace was about four years old the eldest daughter, Catherine E. (Kate) died leaving a son William Elmer three years and a baby 3 days old which the grandmother, Matilda raised. She took care of them and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.
Matilda was small in stature and frail, never weighing more than 111 lbs. and that only a short time. She taught her children the gospel, attended chuirch when able to do so and was a life member of the Genealogical Society of Utah, doing some research and temple work. Also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was very faithful in making monthly visits as a ward Relief Society teacher.
She was a great hand to keep in touch with her relatives through correspondance. And alway encouraged them to visit in her home and made threm welcome. She loved to have company and help and go to the temple with relatives and friends who came to Salt Lake to go through the temple. She died of complications following an operation for appendicitis and gall stones in her 58th year. ( Exerpts taken from a paperwritten by her daughter, Rebecca Gertrude Lorden Baker, my grandmother, in about 1950.)
