Source: Chr: Parish Register of Ospringe, Kent. Ord Dates: IGI Batch 7433123 20; Source 935266 Peter was called a "Gentleman". Marriage: The Inquisition taken after his death ((Records at the Public Record Office- (Inquisitions post mortem, Wards and Liveries, Bundle 67, N 5) says that the marriage was solemnized at Ospringe (if so it was probably by Civil process, as it does not appear in the Register) on 20 Oct A 12 Chas. I (1636); but the Marriage Licence, issued on 28 Oct 1636, provides for it to be effected in the Church of Westwell. Note: Peter G. was of Plumford and Paynter's in Ospringe, gentleman. He appears to have enthusiastically espoused the cause of the Commonwealth, and is described in contemporary records as "High Collector of Sequestrations, for the Commons House of Parliament, in the Hundreds of Milton, Tenham, Faversham and Boughton." In 1642 Sir John Borough, 'Garter,' confirmed to him the ancient coat of 'Greenstreet,' with the charge of the canton altered from a marlet to a double-headed eagle (Guillim's Display of Heraldry, 5th edition, p. 405).
