She taught school, the first four grades, at Fish Haven during 1921-22. The following year LaPriel attended Weber College in Ogden and obtained a Utah Teachers Certificate. She obtained a teaching position with the Granite School District and taught at Bacchus and then transferred to Garfield where she taught three years. LaPriel attended the Utah State Agricultural college at Logan, Utah during the summer of these three years. This started a life of teaching in the public schools. For the school year of 1938-39 LaPriel taught remedial reading and math work for the 5th and 6th grades. In 1944 with all of her children in grade school LaPriel returned to full time teaching. Desiring to be a better teacher she registered for correspondence courses during the winter quarter and full time during the summer quarters. LaPriel graduated from the University of Utah in August of 1947. When LaPriel graduated she doubled her teaching salary.
At Garfield she met Farrell John Roberts who was working at the "American Smelter and Refining Company". Farrell was from Kanosh and Leamington, Millard, Utah. His opportunity for education had been limited. He had worked as a cook and at other jobs. He obtained a job at the "Smelter," about 1923, and after several years was able to apprentice as a machinist. Farrell had exceptional tallents in his chosen field.
Farrell and LaPriel were married on June 1, 1927 by Joseph Fielding Smith in the Salt Lake Temple. Her brother Glenn was married on the same day right after her in the Salt Lake Temple also by Joseph Fielding Smith.
In 1939 Farrell built "Park Inn," a hamburger stand by the Garfield ball park. The family called it "the stand." A good sandwich and short order busines was generated. They sold the stand May 1, 1944. In the summer of 1942 Farrell quit working at the smelter after 19 years. He immediately went to work for Kennecott Copper and initially was assigned to the machine shop at the Arthur Mill. As the years passed Farrell worked aksi at the Kennecott Power Plant, located at the Magna Mill, and the Refinery when it was built about 1950/51.
LaPriel and Farrell started married life together in Garfield, Utah and lived there for twenty-six years. In 1950 they bought property in Magna, Utah. In 1952 Farrell started to build the home that they lived in the rest of their lives together. They were both involved in genealogical research. LaPriel was the "Stock Family" genealogical representative for twenty years. She worked hard to bring order to the family genealogical effort and directed the research effort during those years. They served a mission to the Southern States from October 1968 to August 1969.
In 1977 LaPriel and Farrell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren around them. Their health was not good. Farrell died on February 3, 1981, and LaPriel passed away on
April 23, 1987.
