SOURCE: Edna Gross and notes from LaPriel Roberts. He came to Amereica in 1679 on the ship "Hannah and Elizabeth" sailing from Dartmouth to Boston' listed among the passengers as "Mr. Thomas Tousey and his wife and his child and his servant boy.." He was a weaver by occupation and in partnership with William Pitkin owned a woolen mill. He was a widower at the time of his death, and his will dated Nov 1712 gives his property to his daughter and his son, with minor bequests to employes and his interest in the fulling mill to Mr. Buckeley.

NOTE: Thomas graduated from Yale in 1707; preached first in Hebron, and in 1715 in the new settlement of Newtown, Connecticut; He resigned in 1724, went to England and received the commission of Captain in the King's Army; returned to Newtown; was commissioned Captain of Militia in 1727; Justice of the Peace in 1728; was Newton's first representatiive in the General Assembly in 1747 and also represented the town in 1748, 1751, and 1754. At one time he served as schoolmaster; took up the practice of medicine and became Newtown's first physician.
