   There was a difference for the information that Max Roberts had vs what waas in the family file FGS.  Location of family was in Essex, England from Max's records.  Family file (copied from FGS in Library) listed other cities and Shires namely Stourton, and Long Marston.  Comparison of listings in "Genealogical Gazetteer of England by Smith" with location on FGS do not agree.  Need to check the source.

                   Other husband: John Tomes (sfrom Max Roberts file).  This is not mentioned on FGS in Roberts family file.
On review of the spouses this john Tomes was deleted for the following reasons:
1.  Alice was married about 18 which did not give time for a previous marriage.  First child born shortly after.
2.  Last child born was in 1637 and she died in 1640=3 years after.
3. Husband Thomas Wells died in 1660 and divorce was not a consideration.
4.  Surname was Tomes the same as Alice.  While unusual it was possible but in this case not probable.

No other data for John Tomes was in file.
