Everhard HARR
New information provided by Cousin George Kendall, of Canada, says thatAndrew James Mong went to Arkansas when he was about 17 years old. Thismight have been about 1860 or 1861. No trace of him was found in the 1870census for Arkansas. However, in checking cemetery records forWashington county, Maryland information was found about Andrew JamesHarr. In the section on military graves in Rose Hill Cemetery (east ofHagerstown, Maryland) was his grave. He was killed in action on October1862 age 21 years old at the Battle of Antietam. He served with the 3rdArkansas Regiment. He was originally buried in a hay field on SamuelBealer's farm along with 15 other Confederate soldiers. It was 60 or 70years later that the United States Government reburied these soldiers atRose Hill Cemetery in the military section. How ironic that he moved to Arkansas, came back to fight for the South onhis own home ground, and was killed not many miles from where he grewup. He is buried in Washington County where he was raised.
