Harvey Franklin GARDENHOUR

                   Just for the record, Evelyn Gardenhour was really born in a section nearthe Mong Family Farm, Waynesboro, Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA. that wasknown as Battletown.  Evelyn hated the idea of being born in "Battletown"so she said she was MEANT to be born in Hagerstown, Maryland, so that waswhere she said she was born.  Actually, she was pretty close to beingcorrect, since this area was considered part of theHagerstown/Leitersburg District. I have been to this area, and would likethe family to know that "Battletown" is a group of old farmhouses on alovely tree-lines lane.  A beautiful creek meanders along the way,through the farm lands.  I have actually seen the farmhouse where mymother was born, and have taken pictures of it.  Unfortuneately it hasbeen changed over the years, and the modern version is not quite as niceas the older one would have been.  I have been told that this housebelonged to Francis Marion Gardenhour, who was my great-grandfather.According to the story, Viola Mong Gardenhour was visiting her in-lawswhen Evelyn decided to be born. Thus she was born in Battletown, whichwas behind the Mong property.
