1].  Son of Martin from KY [Ref 1 shows IN] and Adaline from OH. Educated at
Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.  He chose farming because he believed it
the most independent pursuit.  Moved from Truro to Elba Township where he
now is (1878).  Married Julia Dixon in 1870. 2 children. Republican. PO,
Elmwood. [Elmwood is app. 2 miles E. of Yates City. Elmwood PO in Salem Township
according to Reference 1, although Elba Township is immediately north;
therefore one might live in Elmwood and be in Elba Township. Did not locate in
Salem Township, 1880 census.].
