On the Schlitt family chart he is listed as a weaver from Darmstadt of the Lutheran faith who arrived in Oranienbaum on 9 Aug. 1766 aboard the ship under the command Perepechny. He is not listed on the original colonists? list for Norka. However, it appears that he died, because his son, Johannes, is listed in family #18 headed by Andreas Nolte as having been adopted after his father?s death. DEATH: He may have died before arriving in Norka because on the original settlers? list for Norka, his children are all listed as orphans.BIRTH & DEATH: Based on a careful study of the original settlers' list for Norka, it appears that Johann Heinrich and his wife, Anna Elisabeth, and very young son, Johann Wilhelm all suffered a tragic and early death before arriving in Norka. Maybe it was an accident. Maybe it was one of the prevelant water-born diseases. The oldest daughter, Christina, is 20 and is married to Thomas Keiser,who is 40. Her orphaned little sister, Anna Maria, who is 12, is living with them. Brother, Johannes, who is 16, after the death of his father, has been adopted by Andreas Nolte.
