    An undocumented online genealogy states that Joseph Owens fathered five children with a slave girl Jinny. The same genealogy identifies his parents as Fanny (Kennedy) and William Owens and that his wife, Elizabeth Bennett's parents were Sarah Margaret Singletary and William Swinton Bennett.
