                   Was a farmer.  Fought in the Civil War 1862-1863.  Resided in: Antwerp, Morley, Mcih, Paulding, OH. Charles enlisted in Co. I. 100 Regiment of Ohio 7 Aug 1862 at Crane Twp, OH.  Musterd into Vol. Ser. 1 Sep. 1862 at Camp Toledo, OH.  Mustered out 20 Jun 1863 at Greensboro, NC.  Height 5'61/2". Complection light, eyes hazael blue. Hair: auburn.  Occupation: Saw Mill Gris Mill business.  After service lived at Antrip till 1872. Morley, Mecosta Co.
Mich. till May 1876.  Paulding Co, IH till 1891.  Knox Co. since 12 Sep 1891 until death 21 May 1912.  Address was R.d. #3, Powell Station, TN.  Info: from family bible, military records, pension record for military. Was married 2 x. 1st marrige: had John F. Ashton and Mary.  2nd marrige had Harry Mark
and William Mark.
Charles married Hannah Bruce.  Charles was a carpenter and some of the houses he built are inthe Crane Twp, Paulding Co., OH.  Hew was married for a second time to Mintie Gammon in TN till his death in Dec. 29, 1912.
Charles served from the state of Tennessee in the Army.  He was in the infantry.  He served in
Company L, 100th Ohio Infantry Div.
BUrried at National Vanayr Cemetary, Sec. B, Grave 3500 in Knoxville, TN.
His army descriptive books shows:  He was 5 feet, 5 1/2 iinches, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair,
born in Allen County, IN and was a farmer.  His comments from is commander:  "This man has been in the various campaigns throughout and has performed duty very well."
