George Martins first wife died shortly after the birth of my grandmother and he
then married Flo. She did not raise my grandmother. My uncle Lee Marshall
remembers her as being difficult to get along with and sickly as far as
requiring frequent daily visits by the horse and buggy doctor. She was
described as having bottles and bottles of pills on the shelf. He quoted his
grandfather Martin as saying he paid out the value of his farm in doctor bills.
