NOTE: Thomas was living in Wayne County in New York. The census of 1840 lists a Thomas Baker with many children in New York in that county. In Dutachess County, New York in 1790 there is listed a Thomas Baker and a William Pennington which is the name of Phoebe's, wife of Warner Baker, father. Thomas is the father of Warner. DEATH: Will Date: 17 Oct 1848
She is buried in Randolph Cemetery. Another record of Janet Baker's lists her birthday as 6 Mar.,1794. There is a Cerfificate of Probate of Will registered in Hillsdale County for Phebie Baker. The administer is a son, Samuel. Other heirs had received their portion earlier, namely at least Warner, who does not appear on the list of heirs. Other heirs are Mercy Baker, Alvah, Samuel, Sally Deland, and Serepta Cook [her heirs]. These are noted to be her sons and daughters. Her last will and testiment was dated 26 November, 1867. This was in the town of Fairfield, Lenawee County. This is where her daughter, Mercy, lived and in the final papers was paid for caring for Phebie form Dec. 17, 1867 to 12 Dec. 1868, the day of her death. The date of this transaction was 20 March, 1869.
Moved to Michigan with some children and married again. Widower, died of enlargement of stomach, 76 yrs. by death certificate.First wife was Emeline R. and died 5-1-1839 in Macedon, New York. A story in the family related by Lucile [Walworth] Nichols, is that Warner wandered by and worked for Adelia P. Baker having lost her husband and needing help on the farm. There may have been children of this union, but they all died young of T.B.. Warner and Adelia were married 1 February, 1841. Warner purchased land from a Benjamin Jones of Macedon, New York which was located in Michigan on 5 May 1841. This was recorded in Hillsdale County on 20 June, 1842. Purchase price was $80. He also recorded a Warranty Deed on March 13, 1841 in Michigan. This was for &160 in cash. He was therefore not without means. He brought with him some children. His gravestone states he was 73y and 18d at the time of his death.
He was the administrator of his mother's will and other records are from Lenawee County records. An obituary states the he died on the 14th of October, 1870 at the age of 67.
She is listed as an heir but there is no receipt signed as though she came to her brother Samuel to receive her share. She is listed in the Lenawee County records as living to 1889. She is listed in the will as Sally Deland. This is the will of Phebe Baker, the mother of Warner.
In the will of her mother she is listed as deceased but leaving heirs. She was listed as Serepta Cook. She had apparently resided in Clinton County, Michigan at the time of her demise. Those claiming her inheiritance were a Thomas P. Cook and a Elmerilla Richmond, a blank of Cook. It may be nephew.
He married Phoebe Pennington Abt 1801/05 at of Wayne, Ny . Phoebe Pennington was born at Nj 1782/83 .
