NOTE: Immigrated on 11 apr 1637 on the "Rose" Was a carpenter Historical detail in NOTES Notes from Marston Manor:John was a carpenter by trade. He was a Quaker like his cousin, William. Like William, he, too, was fined for not complying with the rules of the established church. He opted to switch rather than fight on 9 June 1640, and he was made a freema n on 2 June 1641.This is NOT "John the Mariner," ALSO of Salem, whose parents and English origins are unknown.Holman identified the parents and the relationship between John and the other MARSTONs of TMG. TMG knew him only as "John of Salem." His gravestone in Salem is very well preserved.
