Gen. P.P. Pitkin entered the U.S. service, War of the Rebellion (Civil
War), as Quartermaster, 2nd Regiment, Vt.. 1861, was promoted to rank of
Captain, 1862; to rank of Colonel, 1864; and elected
Quartermaster-General of the State of Vermont, from 1864 to 1871; also a
director in Wells River Railroad; Vice-President of the Lane
Manufacturing Company of Montpelier, VT.
