                      Carl Fyllingsnes eas born in 1872 and came to the United States at age 17 in 1889.  He worked as a hired hand on a farm near Creston, Illinois.  He also lived in Rochelle for a while and worked with a maintanance gang in chicago on the Northwest Railroad.  He was married in 1900 to Celia Olson and my sister Stella was born the same year in Rochelle.  When he had saved enough money he became a tenant farmer on the Robert's farm on the edge of Creston.  Here, Theodore was born in 1906 and died in 1909.  Here I was born in 1913.  My father worked this farm until he retired.
    The farm I now own was acquired in 1927.  We continued to live here on the farm as it had two houses.  My father had a life lease on the house.  My father built a house in Rochelle, Illinois in 1938 which we lived in for almost 25 years.  My mother died here in 1948.  My father died in 1958, Stella in 1961.  I continued to live in the house until the spring of 1963, when I moved to Oceanside, California.  The farm I now have is 180 acres in Ogle, County, Lynnville Township.  It is located 10 miles north and east of Rochelle.
    I am quite sure that my father was the first of the Fyllingsnes brothers to come to America.  I cannot remember, but my sister at one time told me that father's brothers stayed temporarily in the farm home at Creston when they first came to the U.S.
