The following information is from the Clore-Glore Genealogy manuscript byDelma Rae Carpenter, Sr. (1881-1967). A copy of this is available at theMadison Co., VA Library. This manuscript is a typescript and update ofanother, handwritten, Clore-Glore Genealogy manuscript by Dr. ArthurLeslie Keith. The original of Keith's manuscript is at the NewberryLibrary, Chicago., IL. Please note that some of this information hasbeen updated by other researchers in the meantime and I'll try to addnotes with the current information. Page 148: Reuben Gaines (son of James Gaines and wife Margaret Clore) was bornin Laurens Co., S.C., Aug. 4, 1815, died at Adairsville, Ga., Nov. 17,1899. He settled near Adairsville, Ga., in 1837. About 1856 he moved toAnderson Co., Texas, where he lived for about 15 years, then he movedback to Gordon Co., Ga. He is buried in Oothcaloga cemetery. He was afarmer and a deacon in the Baptist Church. Lucy Josephine Cunyus, The History of Bartow County Formerly Cass,(Tribune Publishing Co., 1933), p 58-59: Reuben, b. 1815 in Laurens district, went to school in thatdistrict, m. Elizabeth Walker in Jan. 1836 and moved near Adairsville andlived 19 years at the Tillman Leake place, then in 1856 he moved to Texasand during the Civil War served in the Texas state troops. They returnedto Gordon county in 1871 and she died in 1886. He m. Alice Sanders ofRome, and he died in 1899 and is buried in Oothcalooga. Most of thechildren are identified with Texas in Navarro county.
