Harris Sanders Murdoch, born 8 Oct 1839, in GA, the son of Joseph Hayden & Celia Cannon Murdock.  Came to TX w/parents in early 1850's.  Enlisted in the Confederate Army in Spring 1862 & served in Corbis Heavy Artillery  w/Brother Joseph Lafayette Murdock until end of war in 1865. He married Martha Cannady (Brimberry) first & settled on small homestead she had near Grapeland.  3 daughters were born( 1) Florence  born 1867 & married Oscar Conaway 16 Sep 1862, (2)  Laura b 1869 d 1944 & (3) Paralee b 1871 married first Jenkins, then George Hutcheson.  After death of Martha, Harris married Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Dotson & had 9 more children.  He lived in Houston County most of time.  Harris carried the mail and farmed. Died 17 Dec 1921.
