RESEARCH NOTE:   According to his death certificate, he came to America in about 1868, Mary came at the same time according to the 1900 Federal Census.  John was listed as a carpenter on both the 1900 Federal Census and on his death certificate.  On the 1900 census, John states he was married only two years previous, and that he and Mary have had no children together.  It is likely that Johanna died prior to 1898 in New York City.

Unable to locate Johanna's death, or the children's birth, or his marriage to Mary anywhere in Brooklyn.
