RESEARCH NOTE: The christening or birth patterns of this family are unusual. Either the family would bring several children to town to christen them all at the same time, or Margaret was having lots of multiples, or there were two John Iversons and Margarets having children at the same time and christening them on the same days. The patterns of christenings of several children born after 1803 (the marriage date of another John Iveson and Margaret) do not appear to follow the same patterns as this family, and are thus considered the children of the later couple. - While there is no specific evidence to prove or disprove the following theory, the area of Gayle outside of Hawes was home to a religious sect called the Galsites (named afte John Glas), or Sandemanians (after Robert Sandeman, Glas' son-in-law) during this same time period. Unusual christening patterns may suggest that this family had on-and-off affiliations with another church besides the Church of England, possibly the Sandemanians. - Shoebox Genealogy, 2008
There appears to be only one option in the IGI records for this Margaret
RESEARCH NOTE: The 1861 Census gives the birthplace for Sarah, her 2 sons, and daughter Mary as "Gale, Yorkshire". The true locality is Gayle (by Hawes), Yorkshire, England - In 1851 She lived on Buckstones Street, in Gayle. She was listed as a pauper knitter. - Name on the christening records in Hawes reads Sally Iveson. The Iverson surname change must have come later, as there are many Ivesons in Hawes, but no Iversons. Only one Sarah/Sally from the christeing record batch C101921 fits the dates correctly. Further research to confirm these conclusions is recommended, however. - Shoebox Geneaolgy, 2008
