death certificate states Place of death: Ramona, Wahington Co OK Male, white, Widow born June 16 1884 died Dec 17 1923 age 44 years 6 months occupation farmer name of father D C Dotson, born TN name of mother Evelynn Wheeler, born TN informant P H Dalby MD, Ramona OK cause of death: gunshot, homocide place of burial: Vian OK burial 12/20/1923 State of Oklahoma, County of Washington Before me, G T Overfield, JP in and for said county, personally appeared C E Bailey, who being duly sworn on his oath says that on or about the 17th day of December 1923, one J P Nicholson withing the boyd of the County of Washington, State of Oklahoma, then and there being, did, then and there, knowingly, wilfully, wrongfully, unlawfully an feloniously, without authority of law, and with a premeditated design to effect the death of one Berry Dotson, make an assault in and upon the said Berry Dotson with a certain deadly weapon, to wit: a pistol loaded with gun powder and eaden bullets, then and there had and held in hands of him, the said J P Nicholson, and the said J P Nicholson did then and there with said revolver, so had and held as aforesaid, unlawfully, wrongfully and feloniously and without authority of law, and with a premeditated design to effect the death of said Berry Dotson, shoot, fire and dishcarge the said pistol at, into and upon the head of him, the said Berry Dotson, then and there and therby inflicting a certain mortal wound in and upon the said Berry Dotson, of which said mortal wound, so inflicted as aforesaid, the said Berry Dotson did then and there die, which was intended by the said J P Nicholson he should do, with the unlawful, wrongful and felonious intent then adn there on the part of him, the said J P Nicholson to kill and murder the said Berry Dotson, and in the manner and form aforesaid did commit the crime of Murder contrary to the form of the statues in such cases made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the State.
