Oliver made some land purchases in Erie county that may have been land other family members lived on. One was in Springfield in conjunction with Benjamin Carr who was Rin 10475. (Benjamin's son, Thomas later married Oliver's daughter, Almira.) This land was in Springfield Tract 534--100 acres purchased for $200 in 1820. See Erie file 065.Oliver also purchased 50 acres of land in Elk Creek for $60.50; Tract 504. This may have been where Henry Martin Harmon was born to Alpheus and Hulda. This land was purchased in 1822. See Erie file 066.

st ahead of them. Since Alpheus and Hulda consistently lived near Oliver and Sarah, they may have been with them. The statement about Kirtland camp that makes me think this is: ?The camp buried eight young children in the fields of Ohio and on Sep 3, 1838, the first adult died.? Oliver and Sarah lost their married daughter Almira H. Carr on 23 Aug 1838 at Henry County, Indiana. They also lost Almira?s husband, Thomas Carr and a 3-month old granddaughter, Amy Arvilla Carr all in 1838 (no complete date given). This left two orphaned grandchildren for their grandparents to care for. When they were near Terre Haute, Indiana, Oliver and Sarah?s daughter, Emily, found work caring for a woman named Laura Snow Cooley, who gave birth to a baby boy and died shortly thereafter. Emily ended up marrying the widower and having an instant family. Sarah?s history states that they ran out of money and had to stop to earn enough to go on.
