In the 1850 census of Lincoln county, Missouri, the family of Si meon B. Henry consisted of William S. age 16, a laborer, Willis age 14, Jerem iah age 12, Thomas J. age 10, Sarah age 8, and Lavoria age 3. Some of thes e ages are in disagreement with the ages shown on other records. The 4 boys wer e all attending school. The family was very poor because their farm was on ly worth $320. Lincoln county court records show that Simeon B. Henry died ab out November 1859. Simeon's oldest son, William, went by the name of Wil liam Skidmore Henry. Simeon's third son, Jeremiah, went by the name of J . Bent Henry. Simeon's fourth son, Thomas J. had the name Thomas Jefferso n Henry, but was known as Jeff Henry. The 1860 census of Lincoln County, Missouri, shows that Simeon h ad died, so Mildred was the head of the house. Their real estate holdings amo unted to $800 and the personal property was worth $465 so the family was stil l very poor. The household included Willis K age 24, and Jerry B (Jeremiah ) age 18, who were both laboring to support the family. Jerry B, Sarah B, Lavo ria, and Buford all attended school during the year. The farm was at Millwoo d inLincoln county. Goodspeed, History of Lincoln county, Missouri, 1888 page 551 : J. Bent Henry was born in Millwood township on the 7th of Sept 1841, son of S imeon B. Henry and Mildred Roberts who were born in Virginia and Kentucky, res pectively. Simeon Henry and his wife, Mildred, farmed in Lincoln county. They w ere members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. They had six sons and two daughters, J. Bent being the fourth child. Lincoln county Herald newspaper, 27 Jan 1870: Mildred Henry wa s on the list of poor receiving county support for 1867 in Lincoln county. S he was listed the same day on the list of poor for 1868. Clary , Mr. William S. Henry and Miss Mary Hynemon, all of Millwood, were married. 31 Dec. 1876: William S. Henry married Mrs. Mary Kelsey of Mont gomery County. The marriage was performed by Esquire Quarton. This was rep orted in issue of 3 Jan 1877, but marriage was 31 Dec. 27 Mar 1878: On 24 March a daughter was born to W. S. Henry i n Millwood. According to the original papers filed in the office of the Prob ate Court of Lincoln county, Missouri, letters of administration were granted t o Tarplin R. Mitchell, as administrator of the estate of Thomas J. Henry, decea sed on 10 May 1886. T. R. Mitchell being duly sworn, says that Ora B. Henry (widow ) and David Henry (11), Mary Henry (6), and Fountaine Henry (1) (children) are th e only heirs and legal representatives of Thomas J. Henry, deceased, to th e best of his knowledge and belief. That the deceased died without a wil l . . . .
