Notes:
                      Joseph was named Joseph "H" Fries by his parents.  His parents spoke German in their home, so Joseph picked up German as his native language.  When he started to school, he enrolled as Joseph H Gillis because his step-father had the last name of Gillies, which he pronounced as Gillis.  Because he spoke German fluently, he was nicknamed "Heinie".  When he enlisted in World War I, he was told that he had to have a middle name, not just a letter, so he adopted the middle name of Henry which was similar to Heinie.  In World War I he served as a German translator several times.  He spoke English with no accent.  Joseph's education consisted of elementary school and a year of training at the Great Falls Commercial College where he studied accounting.  Professionally he worked as a bookkeeper, sash and door maker, real estate appraiser, and as a safety engineer with the federal civil service.

                       Isa's parents, Charles Howard Gott and Sylvia Robert Barley, were never married.  Isa grew up in Hannibal, Missouri.  She attended school in a nearby Catholic elementary school because the public school was too far away .  She studied piano for several years.  She moved to Montana with her mother and step-father,Willie S. Henry, when she was about 15 years of age.  She lived in Hathaway, Lewistown, and Great Falls, but never went to high school.  She attended the Great Falls Commercial College for one year, taking secretarial courses. She worked as a secretary for an attorney until she married at age 19. She divorced at age 20
and lived with her parents, keeping house, until she remarried at age 33  to Joseph Evrine Caza on 12 Dec  1936..  Her hobbies were piano, reading western novels, and cooking pastries.  She had very poor teeth which were all removed when she was about 35 years old. Isa was named for an actress, Isa Woodland.
